PROCEEDINGS:
In the G.O.
first read above, the Government issued orders that the degrees obtained from
the Open Universities without passing Plus Two (H.Sc) shall not be considered
as valid degrees for appointment/promotion in Government services. The said
G.O. has been adopted in TANGEDCO - vide Proceedings read above.

Recently, the Government of Tamil Nadu, in its G.O. fourth read above, have
issued orders treating the Degrees obtained from Open Universities or through
Distance Education, after passing SSLC/Old SSLC and 3 years Diploma or 2 years
I.T.I.Course or 2 years Diploma in Teachers Training under 10+3+3 or 11+2+3 or
10+2+3 or 10+3+2 pattern, as equivalent to Degrees obtained after passing SSLC
and Plus Two for the purpose of appointment/promotion in Government services.

In order to adopt the said G.O. in TANGEDCO, a proposal has been placed before
the Board of TANGEDCO. After careful examination, the Board has approved the
proposal.

Accordingly, the TANGEDCO hereby directs that the persons who have acquired
the degrees from
Open Universities or
through Distance Education mode
in the following manner, shall be deemed to have acquired a 3 Years
Under Graduate degree after passing SSLC and Plus Two, for the purpose of
appointment/promotion in TANGEDCO's service:-
(i) A Three years Degree from the Open
University/Distance Education/ Colleges, after passing 10th Standard
(SSLC) and a Three years Diploma (10+3+3);

(ii) An Under Graduate Degree from a Open
University, after passing 11th Standard (Old SSLC) and Two Years
Course on Diploma in Teachers Training conducted by the Directorate of
Government Examinations (11+2+3);
(iii) A Degree through Distance Education, after
passing 10th Standard (SSLC) and Two years I.T.I.course (10+2+3);
and
(iv) A Two Years Degree (Lateral Entry), after
passing 10th Standard (SSLC) and a Three years Diploma Course
(10+3+2).
5.
The above orders are applicable to all the persons who have already acquired/
are acquiring the degrees on the pattern mentioned in para-4 above for the
purpose of appointment/promotion.
6.
The receipt of these Proceedings shall be acknowledged in the slip enclosed.
