PROCEEDINGS: 

          In the Proceedings first read above, orders were issued enhancing the Maternity Leave admissible to the married women employees of TANGEDCO (erstwhile Tamil Nadu Electricity Board) from 90 days to 180 days which may be spread over from the pre-confinement rest to post-confinement recuperation at the option of the employees.  In the Proceedings second read above, necessary amendments to Regulation 24 of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Leave Regulations have been issued.

          2.       In the Government Orders third read above, orders have now been issued enhancing the period of Maternity Leave admissible to married women Government Servants with less than two surviving children from 6 months (180 days) to 9 months (270 days) which may be spread over from the pre-confinement rest to post-confinement recuperation, at the option of the women Government Servant with effect from 07.11.2016.  It has also been  ordered  therein  that  the  women  Government  Servants  who  proceeded on maternity leave, prior to the date of issue of this order and continue to be on that leave on the date of issue of the aforesaid Government Orders (07.11.2016), are also eligible for availing maternity leave upto 9 months (270 days), in total.  The said orders of the Government have been considered and decided to adopt the same.

3.            Accordingly, it is hereby ordered that

i)         the Maternity Leave admissible to married women employees of TANGEDCO with less than two surviving children, be enhanced from 6 months (180 days) to 9 months (270 days), which may be spread over from the pre-confinement rest to post-confinement recuperation at the option of the women employees of TANGEDCO with effect from the date of issue of the Government orders (i.e. 07.11.2016).

ii)        the women employees of TANGEDCO who were on Maternity Leave, prior to 07.11.2016 and continuing that leave on or after the said date, are also eligible for extending their Maternity Leave for 9 months (270 days).

4.       Necessary amendment to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Leave Regulations will be issued separately.

5.       The receipt of these proceedings shall be acknowledged in the slip enclosed.
